AI, Leadership, and What’s Actually Changing Inside High-Growth Companies

Last week, I had the chance to host an intimate dinner with a group of forward thinking executives and operators. What started as a casual conversation quickly turned into something much more meaningful. By the end of the night, we were not just talking about tools or technology. We were exploring how work itself is evolving.

Here are a few reflections that stood out to me, especially for founders and investors building or scaling companies in a period of rapid change.

1. AI Is Not Coming for Jobs. It Is Changing How Work Gets Done

There is a lot of conversation about AI replacing roles. But what is really happening is a redefinition of how work is executed.

Marketing teams are not being eliminated. Instead, the day to day of marketing is being reshaped. Content creation, campaign testing, research, and performance tracking are becoming faster and more precise with AI.

One guest said it best. “It is not that AI will replace your team. But competitors who embrace it effectively might.”

For growth focused leaders, this means you do not have to chase every new tool. But you do need to create a culture that supports testing, adapts quickly, and is willing to reskill when necessary.

2. Build or Buy Is No Longer Just a Technology Question

Many of the leaders in the room were actively deciding when to develop capabilities internally and when to rely on external tools or experts.

Some are experimenting with in house teams. Others are piloting third party solutions and choosing based on outcomes. The most forward looking leaders are doing both and remaining flexible in their approach.

This mindset applies across the board. Whether it is marketing, operations, or product, high performing companies are treating their business like a modular system. They bring in fractional leadership, plug in tools quickly, and prioritize what gets them results the fastest.

This is not about ownership. It is about orchestration.

3. AI Is Quietly Reshaping Organizational Structure

AI is not just a new capability. It is a catalyst. It highlights where teams are bloated, where decision making is slow, and where processes need to evolve.

Tasks that used to take multiple steps and layers can now be completed in minutes. But for that to work, your team and structure need to be ready.

This is where interim or fractional leadership plays a key role. It gives you space to test new systems, build clarity into your operations, and adjust your structure without committing too early or too heavily.

If AI is speeding up the game, your leadership model needs to keep pace.

Final Thought: The Biggest Shift Is in How Leaders Think

The most impactful change happening in business today is not just new software. It is the way leaders approach problems.

They are moving from asking who do we need to hire, to asking how do we empower our team to do more. From thinking about scaling output to building systems that can learn and adapt. From trying to control every detail to learning how to collaborate faster and better than their competitors.

Companies that lean into this shift will not only adapt to change. They will lead it. Not just because of their tech stack, but because of their mindset.

If you are thinking about how to bring structure, speed, and adaptability into your marketing or growth strategy, I would love to have that conversation.

Let’s explore what your business needs to move forward with confidence.
